Bio

Norman R. Washington II returns to Spring Valley High School as Head Football Coach, bringing unmatched energy, deep roots in Viking pride, and over a decade of coaching experience at the high school level. A proud Class of 2007 alum, Coach Washington’s homecoming marks a powerful step forward in restoring the tradition, discipline, and excellence that Spring Valley Football was built on.

Coach Washington was a standout student-athlete who went on to play college football at Middle Tennessee State University, where he earned his B.B.A. in Economics and Finance and later his Master’s in Sport Management. His journey as a Division I student-athlete sharpened his leadership, discipline, and understanding of how to build successful programs both on and off the field.

He began his coaching journey at a grassroots level—at the University of North Antioch (UNA), a youth football park in Nashville, TN, known throughout the Southeast for producing top-tier talent and building community leaders. UNA is a cornerstone of its community, with alumni including NFL All-Pro Jalen Ramsey. It was in this environment—full of energy, purpose, and pride—that Coach Washington fell in love with teaching the game, shaping young lives, and planting seeds for long-term growth both on and off the field.

Over the years, Coach Washington has built a strong reputation for his ability to develop elite talent and build a winning culture. His coaching journey includes:

• Gainesville High School (2023–2024) – Linebackers Coach & Run Game Coordinator
• Gainesville High School (2022–2023) – Corners Coach & Pass Game Coordinator

• Centennial High School (2020–2022) – Co-Def. Coordinator / Secondary Coach & Recruiting Co.

• Johns Creek High School (2017–2020) – Corners Coach & Co- Defensive Coordinator

• Mount Vernon Presbyterian School (2016–2017) – Assistant Coach

Coach Washington has helped over 100 student-athletes earn college football scholarships at every level of the game—from Power 5 and Group of 5 programs to FCS, Division II, NAIA, and JUCO. He has also played a role in the development of High School All-Americans and leaders who thrive beyond the field.

His leadership is grounded in faith and purpose, guided by Jeremiah 29:11:
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Returning to Spring Valley is more than a coaching opportunity—it’s a calling. Coach Washington is committed to rebuilding the Viking culture, reigniting community pride, and developing young men into leaders. His vision centers on a player-led program where faith, academics, toughness, and unity are at the core.

Under Coach Washington’s leadership, Spring Valley Football is FORGING FORWARD with a new standard, a renewed mission, and a belief that greatness begins with discipline, heart, and belief in something bigger than yourself.

Go Vikings!
