Marcus Walker

Bio

Coach Marcus Walker is a dedicated and passionate football coach with a strong commitment to player development both on and off the field. With over a decade of coaching experience, he has played a pivotal role in shaping young athletes into successful football players and well-rounded individuals.

Walker’s coaching journey began at Richland Northeast High School, where he served as the B-Team Defensive Coordinator and coached the JV and Varsity defensive lines and linebackers. His leadership contributed to two consecutive region championships, and he mentored standout players, including former Gamecock & NFL linebacker TJ Brunson.

At AC Flora High School, he continued his focus on player development, helping the JV team achieve a second-place finish in their region while implementing strategic defensive schemes.

His tenure at Westwood High School was marked by historic achievements, including the program’s first-ever Region Championship. As Defensive Coordinator, he established a dominant 4-2 defensive system, guiding a significant number of players such as notables Cam Smith (South Carolina Gamecocks/Miami Dolphins) and Christian Horn (App State), to college football careers or to the workforce.

Most recently, Walker has been part of the coaching staff at American Leadership Academy, where he was preparing the varsity program for its debut season in 2024.

Beyond his tactical expertise, Walker is known for his leadership, motivational skills, and deep understanding of the game. He is committed to fostering a culture of excellence, discipline, and perseverance in his players, emphasizing success both on and off the field.

A graduate of the University of South Carolina with a background in Media Arts, Walker brings a unique perspective to coaching, blending strategy, mentorship, and communication to inspire the next generation of athletes.

Coach Walker is a native of Lexington, SC and he is currently the Graphic Designer and Multimedia Manager for Richland School District Two. He has been married for four years to Brianna Walker, a dedicated educator for Richland Two at Sandlapper Elementary. Together, they have a two-year-old son named Ace, who already shares his father’s love for the game.
